I'm a Grade 12 student at Guildford Park Secondary School and if anyone surveyed how many students come to school drunk and/or high, they would be surprised. It's not uncommon to see your peers smoking up during lunch or between classes. I know many students who drink on a regular basis or at parties. There are many parents who allow their teens to drink. I'm still wondering whether it's safe for the parents to know and permit the use of drugs and/or alcohol, or whether parents should outright ban it. Either way, there are a lot of teens I know who come to school high or sometimes drunk. I have no idea what people can do to stop this from happening. I don't think it's possible to prevent teens from doing this on the weekends. From what I know, teachers have done everything they can to teach us about drug abuse. It's basically up to the teens: what path they choose to take and how their families choose to support them. Julia Murray, Surrey - --- MAP posted-by: Larry Stevens
