LOOK FOR TRUE INSPIRATION INSTEAD

I am not quite understanding the message being sent here. A
candlelight vigil for a man, Kerry Ducre, who had to leave town
because people wanted to injure or possibly kill him. A man who had a
lengthy criminal history including resisting arrest with violence
(usually meaning a police officer was injured in a struggle), someone
with a drug-related history. A man who, under the guise of coming back
for the birthday of his girlfriend, returned to Bradenton and the
first thing he does is get involved in a drug deal, according to police.

I do not understand the message you are sending your children. It is
perfectly fine to deal drugs, beat on cops and be a thug. In your
death, we will honor you with a candlelight vigil. I am sorry that a
mother had to lose her child; no loss of a loved one is easy for
anyone. But to honor him in a place where a drug deal gone awry went
down makes no sense to me whatsoever. Look for a true inspiration to
hold up as an example to our young people.
