FIGHTING DRUGS IS AS SILLY AS FIGHTING THE WEATHER

A column in today's Herald stated that the federal government is spending a
billion dollars a month fighting drugs. The feds might as well be spending
a billion fighting the weather. Has any measurable progress been made in
this war? Will it ever end? I don't think so.

Perhaps the solution may be just to legalize drugs. Alcoholic beverages
were legalized over 60 years ago, and yet very few people are staggering
around drunk every day. But, then, if drugs were legalized, what would all
those "drug fighters" do? They would all be out of work!
