DRUG ABUSE ISN'T A LIBERAL OR CONSERVATIVE ISSUE

To the Editor:

People need to take responsibility for their actions and consequences.

For too long right-wingers have accused liberals of fostering the drug
problem in this nation. Drug rehabilitation is a politically correct "weak
liberal" approach.

The macho tough-on-crime conservatives want to slam the door on every
junkie in America, but it seems there are double standards about who is a
junkie.

Apparently, famous, rich, white men with chronic substance abuse problems
and those who illegally do prescription narcotics are treated with kid
gloves by the authorities while a poor crack junkie is condemned to rot in
jail with no treatment.

Let us take a cue from the courageous crusader for drug-free values, Rush
Limbaugh, and follow his arguments for slamming every junkie in jail.

Let us not forgive a single junkie, rich or poor, and let us slam them all
in jail.

Apparently, conservatives do not have a drug problem.

Limbaugh is not a junkie painkiller abuser at all. Florida Governor Jeb
Bush's daughter was not a drug abuser.

Only liberals abuse drugs, and it is all their fault why we are what we are
today.

People who live in glass houses and condemn and judge people on their radio
shows to make a luxurious living have to be careful about where they throw
stones.
