COOKIE FUNDRAISER REASON TO SMILE

Local News - The DARE Is Out There -- Try Tim Hortons' New Smile
Cookies.

The double-sized double chocolate fudge cookies featuring a smiling
face go on sale today at five Tim Hortons locations across the city
for $1 each. All proceeds from cookie sales will be donated to Timmins
Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police Drug Abuse Resistance
Education (DARE) programs.

"It's the third year of this partnership," said OPP Sr. Const. Paul
Harrison, the regional DARE co-ordinator. "In today's tough economic
times, raising money can be tough. Programs like this really help.
Businesses like Tim Hortons should be commended for this."

Harrison was pleased to see Tim Hortons owners Rick and Donna Lauzon
and Mike and Linda Lahaie get on board once again with the fundraiser.

Timmins Police Const. Richard Lemieux, who will be running DARE
starting September 2004, said he's eager to begin.

"This is one of the reasons why I got into policing -- I wanted to
help children," Lemieux said. "I can't wait to get started. This is
such a great program. It helps children with their self confidence and
self esteem. It's important for them to know how to say no."

Linda Lahaie said typically, the cookies sell quickly.

"People buy them by the dozen," she said. "We see a lot of people come
in and buy them just to support the program."

The cookies go on sale today and will be available for seven to 10
days, subject to sales. They will be available at 1,445 Riverside Dr.,
Highway 101 East South Porcupine, 110 Algonquin Blvd. W., 989
Riverside Dr. and 400 Algonquin Blvd.
