A CRIME WITHOUT A VICTIM SHOULDN'T BE

I'm writing about Alton E. McQueen's Sept. 7 column, "Release and
pardons make search for justice harder."

I agree with McQueen that "A great many people in prison were put
there by witnesses far less credible than (Tom) Coleman."

Therein lies the problem.

Justice is just an empty word when one person's uncorroborated
testimony can send a person to prison for any reason, especially for
the victimless crime of recreational drug sales.

In a drug transaction, both the buyer and seller walk away happy -
unless one or both get arrested.

Thus, no victim.
