WARRIOR PROBLEM

In David Smith's letters he reveals a common characteristic of
prohibitionists and drug warriors. They are terrified of free choice
regarding drugs and alcohol. They are to unable to use these substances in
a responsible manner; therefore, they assume it is not possible for anyone
else to do so.

The fact is the overwhelming majority of alcohol and cannabis users do so
in a manner that causes no harm to themselves or to society, and most
obtain great enjoyment from the act.

When all drugs, including heroin, were legally available at the corner drug
store less than four per cent of the population had abusive use patterns.
It is ridiculous to have prohibition laws to protect a very small
percentage of the population from themselves at detriment to the majority
caused by violent unregulated black markets, loss of personal liberty, and
loss of potential tax revenue.
