BEENIE MAN FREED OF GANJA CHARGE

Dancehall deejay Beenie Man was yesterday freed in the Corporate Area
Resident Magistrate's Court of a possession of ganja charge.

Beenie Man, whose real name is Moses Davis, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

However, David Barton, who along with Davis and Rohan Smith were jointly
charged with possession of the illegal drug, accepted responsibility for
possession of the marijuana and was fined $300 or 10 days for the offence.

Police had reported that the popular entertainer and the other two men were
travelling in a White Honda motor car last week Thursday morning along Hope
Road in Kingston when they were stopped by the security forces. The car was
stopped and searched and 2.39 ounces of marijuana was found inside.
