STAY INVOLVED

TO THE EDITOR: I am 100 percent in agreement with "'Don't Do It at
All'; Pot's Dangers Should Alarm Parents" (editorial, Dec. 23).
Children metabolize drugs differently than adults. My daughter tried
it and the consequences were severe: No telephone. No friends over. No
going to friends' houses. A written essay on marijuana and a search of
the Bible about Christian responsibilities, actions and consequences.
She also gets surprise drug tests. You're right in saying parental
involvement is critical. Too many people have children but don't want
the responsibility of parenthood. If you want children, that's fine.
If you both want to work, that's fine too. But stagger your schedules
so one of you is home with the child.

Daycare centers aren't responsible for raising your children. You are!
If you don't, won't or can't do this, then do everyone a favor and
don't bring anymore throwaways into the world. Children aren't trash.
They are a shining, bright light full of warmth and love -- if they
are nourished.
