ARRESTS ARE ONLY THE FIRST STEP IN DRUG FIGHT

To the Editor:

Congratulations to the D.C.  police on their recent drug bust at a popular club.  It is about time that they take action to stop the rampant drug trafficking in our clubs.  I also congratulate them for the "surgical strike" done without heavy-handed techniques.

The next step for D.C.  police is to hold irresponsible club owners and event organizers accountable for promoting illegal drug use.  These people are the illicit drug enablers who profit from providing a low threat drug-trafficking environment.

In cities like Miami, Montreal and even San Francisco, pat-down searches cut down on drug sales.  Our city and community deserve a better reputation.
