ADDICTION SERVICES LEVY GAINS GOVERNOR'S BACKING

Gov. Bob Taft has endorsed the Lucas County Alcohol and Drug Addiction
Services levy, board officials announced yesterday.

The governor's support should help the levy campaign, according to Toledo
City Councilman Wade Kapszukiewicz, who works for Compass, a substance
abuse treatment organization that receives money from the local agency.

"I think it's important because it shows the governor of the state knows
how important it is to find a local revenue stream for these services," Mr.
Kapszukiewicz said.

The agency is asking voters to pass a 0.5-mill, five-year levy Tuesday. It
would increase the taxes on a $100,000 home by $15.30 a year and generate
$3.8 million annually.
