RELEASE MEDICAL MARIJUANA

RE: "OTTAWA'S not a very good drug dealer," by Mindelle Jacobs, April 23.

Jacobs hit the nail right on the head. Ottawa had announced that they were
starting to grow medical marijuana, but it would be years possibly until
those in need would get their weed.

Marijuana has some definite medicinal value, having been used by the
Chinese and Indian civilizations for many thousands of years. One of my
relatives who had contracted AIDS had to turn to marijuana to ease his pain
and nausea and to keep his appetite up. Were it not for that, he would have
lived out his short life in miserable agony.

If Ottawa was serious, they would get off the ball, release and distribute
the previously grown marijuana, or at least set up compassion clubs, where
those in severe ongoing pain can find some relief and a flicker of hope in
their already darkened lives.

(Why would anyone expect Ottawa to be organized?)
