Bis Referenced: http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v02/n649/a03.html DRUGS, HOUSING In your April 4 editorial, you criticize a recent decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, which unanimously held that federal law permits, indeed requires, the eviction of a public housing tenant if a family member or guest living with the tenant is involved with drugs ("Drug Law Ruling: Evictions due to guilt by association fail due process," April 4). You contend that the court should have written a narrow decision holding that the law applies only to tenants who themselves are convicted of drug crimes. In other words, you wish that the court had ignored what the justices unanimously found to be the unambiguous language and intent of Congress, and had substituted a more lenient policy decision.
