LESSON ON DRUGS

Bravo Peter FitzSimons ("Fresh minds bring sanity to drug policy", Herald, 
April 4). The politicians who fear that a health and education approach to 
dealing with the issue of drug abuse will be unacceptable to the electorate 
should speak to their constituents.

They may be surprised, and should be alarmed, at just how many of them will 
have direct personal experience with the problem.

There won't be a backlash from people who are desperate for help.
