REPORTS ON GERMAN DRUG CASE DISGUSTING

I AM a Singaporean living in Germany.

My husband and I are always in touch with events which are happening in
Singapore.

We are disgusted by the stories published in local German newspapers
regarding the Julia Bohl drug-trafficking case.

They have been calling our courts 'executioner'.

German newspaper reporters in Singapore have even conducted so-called
interviews to portray Singapore as 'inhuman' and to say that we are a
country of penalties.

Major newspapers which have been printing such untrue stories about
Singapore include Bild and Express.

I feel that sanctions should be imposed on such reporters.

Singapore's image has been tainted without justification.

The newspapers have accused Singapore of not having a conscience because it
executes drug traffickers.

Reporters for German television news shows have even conducted 'exclusive'
interviews at hawker stalls and have made a mockery of those Singaporeans
who agree that Bohl deserves the death penalty if she is found guilty.

I am proud of my country and its judicial system.

It is revolting to read such horrendous comments.

I do hope that our judicial system will not take the case lightly just to
appease Germany.
