HEROIC DEA OFFICERS

The March 15 article, "DEA plan put public at risk, panel says," is the
most outlandish bit of rubbish the Post-Dispatch has published in years.
This so-called citizens panel is the most criminal-loving group that some
bureaucrat could have possibly assembled.

The panel said that drug arrests in the Jack in the Box neighborhood were
"inappropriate." Should the arrests be made in some other neighborhood at
the criminals' choosing?

The panel said that the police should serve warrants only during daylight
(we do not wish to disturb a criminal's evening activities) and that the
police should re-evaluate the use of automatic weapons (that is, not use
the most effective weapons to defend themselves).

The police officers who put down these drug criminals are heroes! We should
expect them to use their maximum firepower to halt an attempt by these
criminals to do them harm.

Any member of the St. Louis County Council who doesn't dismiss this
laughable report as an insult to every honest citizen should be impeached.
