It appears the police are willing to prosecute anybody suspected of possessing cannabis, as long as it is not one of their own number. The police lost a court case over the illegal search and arrest of Chris Fowlie, but when cannabis was found in the car of an off-duty police officer, after the car was crashed in Christchurch (The Post, Feb 22), what did the police do? Nothing, apart from covering it up as an internal matter, apparently. Why would it be an internal matter if the offence did not happen in the course of employment? Maybe it is about time somebody started policing the police properly. DAVE CRAMPTON Johnsonville - --- MAP posted-by: Ariel
