WRONG IMPRESSION

The Editor,

Last week's headline "Mayor defends reference letter for convicted drug 
trafficker" is very misleading. It gives the impression that I support 
criminal activity. Nothing is further from the truth. I never have and 
never will support criminal activity of any kind anywhere or anytime.

All that my note said is that this individual did some carpentry work for 
me 25 years ago, which was of good quality. No more, no less.

I did make one error in that I signed the note as Mayor. For that I 
apoligize to anyone I may have offended.
