TAKING A POT SHOT

Ottawa -- Once again, U.S. officials point the finger of blame everywhere
but within their own borders for the evils of society (U.S. Fears Change In
Marijuana Laws -- Dec. 13).

U.S. drug czar John Walters thinks Canada will pose a "dangerous threat" if
we decriminalize pot and goes as far as to warn us of dire consequences to
our trading relationship.

Predictably and lamentably, our official opposition chimed in with support
for the U.S. position. Mr. Walters, along with the Canadian Alliance,
should be reminded that 90 per cent of guns on the streets of Canada come
from the United States. Perhaps Stephen Harper should call on Americans to
tighten their gun laws as current U.S. policy poses a very real threat to
Canadians.
