TOLERANCE NEEDED

Editor, The Record:

When I first heard the news about this Pot Factory, I was impressed by the
courage of the people in charge of this operation. I was also hopeful that
the public nature of this operation would help to dispel the myths and lies
surrounding grow-ops perpetrated by the police and other fanatics.

Your recent article about the opposition to this Pot Factory was very
disheartening. This ganging up by the police, city and ratepayers'
association against three defenceless, sick and suffering people is
particularly disgusting. What happened to the tolerant and caring society
that we like to claim we are? Obviously it does not exist within the
boundaries of New Westminster.

I don't know what it is going to take to get some sanity and common sense
into the heads of these people but I would advise the Pot Factory to make a
complaint to the Human Rights Tribunal. Its mandate is to combat prejudice
and discrimination and this situation in New Westminster stinks of
prejudice and discrimination.
