ONE LAW FOR ALL

THE separation of powers in Australia helps to ensure democracy by stopping
any one group from having too much power.

In Monday's paper it was reported that a self-confessed drug dealer may
lose his assets (his home). We have the Labor MLA Fran Logan saying that
there should be room for discretion in the law's application.

Ironic, isn't it, that the Government is hell-bent on taking power away
from the judiciary with laws like three strikes, which force judges to
imprison people, yet when something voter unfriendly occurs because of
their laws, the politicians complain.

Mr Logan's Government made the law. The self-confessed drug dealer should
lose his assets and possibly thank the court if he isn't sent to jail.

No one complained when the bikie drug dealer was sent to jail. Equity is
the cornerstone of our legal system. One rule for all. The elected
Government should get back to doing its job and leave the other brances of
government to do theirs.
