TIM HORTONS DARES YOU

Tim Hortons store owners in Timmins and South Porcupine are once again
putting a smile on the faces of deserving children through the Smile Cookie
fundraising initiative, in support of the DARE program.

Tim Hortons customers have the opportunity to satisfy their sweet tooth and
support a worthy cause at the same time, by purchasing special double sized
chocolate chip cookies bearing a happy face.

Five stores in the area will be selling the special little treat, from
September 20-30. At 75 cents each, all proceeds from the cookies will go
towards the DARE program.

"We are proud to be doing this for the DARE program once again," commented
Donna Lauzon, owner of three Tim Hortons locations.

"This is the second year in a row that we've been raising funds for the
DARE program, which we feel is a very worthwhile cause. Last year's
campaign was a tremendous success and we're looking to raise even more
funds than last year, which totaled approximately $3,500."

Accentuating the annual program are T-shirts worn by Tim Hortons' employees
in all five locations. The shirts serve as a means to encourage customers
to buy a cookie and help bring a smile to the community and its children.
Const. Paul Harrison of the Ontario Provincial Police, who also serves as
the regional coordinator for the DARE program, stated that Tim Hortons is
an excellent community partner.

"They're always there when the community is in need," Const. Harrison said.
"This is one more example of their dedication to the children of Timmins."
