DARE PROGRAM IS FAILING

Wayland DARE Officer Jim Forti's, assertion ("Local police say DARE worth 
keeping" Sun, 04 Aug 2002), "Of the 200, if only the one stays off drugs, I 
feel that I have helped in some way," caught My attention.

We should not be teaching our children that this is acceptable math.

With odds like that, the cops have got to be absent-minded, to even suggest 
citizens support their farce any longer. Nearly all studies of DARE, 
including government studies, show it fails and should be replaced by 
affordable effective accurate education. This has the effect of also 
putting police back into the policing business.

With those odds, Vegas would be a ghost town.
