CAUCHON HAS IMUNITY

MARK BONOKOSKI (July 22) questions whether Martin Cauchon, now that he has
admitted smoking cannabis, will be barred from entering the United States.
Cauchon, as justice minister, is a member of the federal cabinet. By virtue
of being part of this exclusive club, he is also a member of the Privy
Council, which also means he has diplomatic status, and a diplomatic
passport. As a result, Cauchon will have no trouble crossing the border at
all. Unfortunately, many other Canadians, who have been ensnared by the
ridiculous cannabis laws, will.
