DEVIL DRINK

Re: "Serious about drugs," Editorial, June 27, and "Bottle to throttle,"
Editorial, July 3.

You suggest the death sentence for illicit drug dealers, yet you joke about
two pilots who were about to fly an airliner full of passengers while
intoxicated and suggest they should have their "wings clipped."

Of course, it is also another example of the U.S. justice system's nonsense
as these pilots only face a six-year prison sentence for flying drunk.
Previously, drunken airline pilots only got 14 months. Pot growers may get
life sentences in some states.

You also had to throw in another myth implying that if the pilots were
using the drug speed, the passengers would be in a more dangerous
situation, which is untrue. Alcohol is the drug most dangerous to those
around the user or abuser.
