MARIJUANA DISCOVERED IN PATIENT'S POSSESSION

HUNTINGTON -- The following information was obtained from Huntington Police
Department reports:

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: Officers were dispatched to Cabell-Huntington
Hospital at 8:17 a.m. Friday on a report of a patient having marijuana in
her possession.

The patient, a 46-year-old Huntington woman, told officers she uses the
marijuana to treat an eye condition and her doctor gave her permission to
use it.

A green, leafy substance was found in her purse and placed in an evidence
locker at the Huntington Police Department's headquarters.

The woman was not arrested because she was still being treated at the hospital.

BATTERY: A 33-year-old Ashland man said he was attacked by his
ex-girlfriend's boyfriend at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday at her residence in the
800 block of Napier Street.

The man said he went to the residence to speak to his ex-girlfriend about a
custody dispute over their daughter. The victim tried to leave, and her
boyfriend threw him to the ground and repeatedly punched him in the face
and body.

The victim was allowed to get up and leave. He received a broken nose, a
cut below the eye and a bruise on his forehead.

BURGLARY: A 19-year-old Huntington female reported she found the door to
her apartment located in the 600 block of 14th Street wide open but still
locked when she returned at 1:45 a.m. Friday. She said nothing was missing
but the doorknob was broken and the door was scratched.

Earlier in the week, she reported, her 20-year-old ex-boyfriend had left a
message on her answering machine saying he had previously tried to break
into her apartment.

BURGLARY: A 19-year-old Huntington woman said an unknown suspect entered
her apartment and stole a DVD player valued at $500, opened a box of cereal
and some milk and threw trash on her balcony between 3:50 a.m. and 4:50
a.m. Thursday.

She said she had some visitors over prior to the incident and believes
someone returned when they left for a short time.

The following information was obtained from Cabell County Sheriff's
Department reports:

CULTIVATION OF MARIJUANA: A 12-year-old Lesage boy said his 13-year-old
brother pointed a gun at him and locked him out of their residence in the
6000 block of Cox Landing in Lesage around noon Thursday.

When officers arrived, they found a marijuana plant in the 12-year-old
boy's bedroom. Guns were found in the parents' bedroom.
