WAR ON DRUGS

Can anyone tell me why our government continues its war on drugs with
commercials aimed at shaming the public into believing that when they buy
drugs they're funding terrorists?

All the while, it's our government that refuses to win this war. The
government continues to talk down to us not realizing we, the public, know
the score.

Without the continued influx and subsequent use of narcotics and eventual
addiction and rehab, there would be no funding for such programs. No heavy
spending for the Drug Enforcement Administration. No special-interest
groups to tap the resources. No money for the narcotics divisions.

It works all the way down. The government lets it in, because it may not be
good for people, but it's good for business. I think it's time the
government steps up and takes a good look in the mirror.

But then again, let's remember this war was started with Richard Nixon and
his wonderful idea of making Elvis Presley an honorary member of the DEA.
We might as well continue the trend and appoint a Colombian drug czar
border chief, or Osama bin Laden head of airport security.
