CUSTOMS SEIZES DRUGS VALUED AT $1.1 MILLION AT EAGLE PASS

EAGLE PASS, Texas- Customs inspectors confiscated cocaine valued at more 
than a half million dollars on Sunday, bringing the total of four weekend 
seizures at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry to $1.1 million, authorities said 
Monday.

Sunday's seizure was the largest of the four, all at Bridge II. An 
inspector sent a car driven by Manuel De Luna, 33, of San Antonio for a 
secondary examination where inspectors discovered bundles in the rear 
bumper area containing 31.6 pounds of cocaine with a street value of 
$505,440. De Luna was arrested on federal charges of importation and 
possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Saturday, Customs inspectors found 12.78 pounds of cocaine concealed in the 
turbo charger area of a car and 19.95 pounds of methamphetamine in the 
spare tire of a pickup truck. The cocaine was valued at $205,000 and the 
methamphetamine at $300,000.

Friday, Customs inspectors found 125 pounds of marijuana in the quarter 
panels and rear seat of a pickup truck. Jose Arturo Gonzalez, 22, of Austin 
was arrested on federal charges of importation and possession with intent 
to distribute a controlled substance.
