WHY MUST RAVERS PARTY UNTIL DAWN?

It upsets me to hear that kids think there is nothing wrong with raves.

It is a place for drug dealers to sell drugs.

I agree with Youth Views columnist Peter Liang that not all teens take
drugs. But it's also true that drug dealers look for raves to sell drugs.

Until there is no chance that drug dealers can smuggle drugs into raves,
these all-night dance parties should be illegal. It is the drug dealers
and people who buy drugs from them who are ruining raves, not municipal
regulators.

It is also true that kids will have raves whether they are legal or not.

But does that mean we should allow street racers to race down our street
just because some kid is going to do it anyway?

Should we legalize drugs just because they are sold? No.

The law is there for a reason. It's about time these kids thought about
why the laws are there.

If having a dance from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. is no different than dancing from 6
p.m. to 10 p.m., as Liang contends, then why not dance at 6 p.m.?

Why must you dance throught the night?
