STUDENT PRIVACY VERSUS DOG SEARCHES

Re "Use of Dogs to Find Drugs on Campus Protested," March 18.

I was absolutely amazed and angered by the attitude of Isbell Middle School
Principal Sheryl Misenhimer, who said, "My philosophy behind this is that
I'd rather overstep someone's rights and get sued than find one of our kids
overdosed in the bathroom."

Hitler and Mussolini also felt that the end justifies the means. I wonder
what her reaction would be if someone "overstepped" her rights. I also
wonder if the school board is as cavalier as she is regarding lawsuits.
