POT LESS HARMFUL THAN TOBACCO

In response to Ira Adams' Dec. 24 letter, "Easy access aids teens'
pot smoking," the reason Robert Sharpe said marijuana is relatively
harmless is because in the 5,000-year history of marijuana use, there
has yet to be a documented death from its use. Tobacco, on the other
hand, causes more almost a half-million deaths each year in the U.S.

As to Adams' claim that anybody can quit smoking if they want to,
why, then, do some cancer patients continue to smoke even after their
voice boxes are removed and they have to smoke through surgical holes
in their necks?

As for the addictive qualities of various drugs, I suggest Adams
check out the Web site: www.drugwarfacts.org/addictiv.htm

He will find that tobacco is more addictive than any illegal drug.
