EDITORIAL OPPOSED

Does the editorial staff have no shame? In the Dec. 8 editorial,
"Tightening both borders," the paper jumps on the bandwagon along with the
untold millions, who are trying to cash in on a national tragedy and asking
for more funds.

I believe it's absolutely un-American to attempt to further raid the
national treasury at a time like this, but it's happening across the
country, as these so-called patriots wave their flags with one hand and
stand hat-in-hand at the same time using an American disaster to prop up
their local economies.

Maybe it's time that El Paso stop relying on the federal government to
support its local Border Patrol industry and find some true free- market
approaches to El Paso's problems. It's nauseating to see Americans beg and
plead for other citizens' money, especially at a time like this. It's blood
money, pure and simple.
