Fifty Years Ago Today - December 9, 1951 BILL TO ASK DEATH FOR DOPE PEDDLERS A Muscogee member of the Georgia House of Representatives will introduce a bill next month providing for a death penalty for unlawful sale of habit-forming drugs to minors. Rep. Harry Dicus' bill would apply to all types of narcotics, barbiturates and other habit-forming drugs. "I don't think a death penalty would be too harsh," Mr. Dicus declared, asserting that wrecking young lives "is worse than murder, and I think the penalty ought to be commensurate with the crime." - --- MAP posted-by: Jackl
