POOR TIMING

Re: David Broder's Nov. 11 column "DEA marijuana madness":

What happened to President Bush's campaign promise of supporting states'
rights?

Given the fact that only a handful of states have passed medical marijuana
initiatives, I would think Bush and the Drug Enforcement Administration
would pick a state without reformed marijuana laws to waste our resources
on. Has the drug problem suddenly disappeared from all other states?

This is a time for Bush to follow through on campaign promises, not break
them. It just doesn't make sense to me that our government would decide to
pick a fight with local states while trying to gain support for fighting
foreign states.
