WILL WAR ON TERROR, DRUGS EVER END?

Many letters have been published referring to the horrific events of Sept.
11 - concerns ranging from religion, retaliation and potential future
attacks on our nation. It is obvious many share the same fears about the
future as it is a fact that we have no contingency plan(s) in place to deal
with what the evildoers have in store for or us.

Why are we not prepared for the evil that's threatening our nation? After
all, state and government regulations require all businesses associated
with any exposure and handling of hazardous materials to have contingency
plans in place - all in the name of safety for the employees and general
public.

It's not a new threat to the United States. We were aware of terrorist
attacks on other countries so the threat was not new. The actual attack was.

Our nation's various government entities have been unsuccessful in the
fight against many crimes affecting our country. Poverty continues to rise
everywhere and race wars still exist.

Yes, we have made progress and I am proud. I love my country and want my
kids to have a safe place to live. However, if attempts to control the
evildoers at home are not proving effective, how can we be sure this war
will solve future threats against us? It hasn't proven effective in the past.

The war on drugs is another example of a war that threatens to never end.
Is the war on terrorism comparable? ...
