MAYBE A NEW MARTYR IS IN ORDER

Marijuana legalization advocates are jumping on the strange case of Grover
Crosslin and Rolland Rohm, two Michigan residents who were shot dead by
police snipers after a standoff at their hemp farm.

The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, among others,
are painting Crosslin and Rohm as martyrs and marijuana advocates who were
harassed by police and well-liked in their community.

Without splitting hairs over the issue of drug legalization, pro-marijuana
advocates did omit or gloss over some details in their press
releases. Among these little facts: the pair had been caught selling
cocaine as well as pot, according to local police; the "standoff" began
when they tried to set their farm buildings on fire after being arrested
for numerous charges of drug and illegal firearm possession; and they were
reportedly shot after they aimed their guns at law enforcement officials.
