MARIJUANA STOLEN FROM LOCAL POLICE DETACHMENT

Sometime early last Thursday morning, a unique break and enter was reported
in Lake Country.

Police report a daring culprit broke into the Lake Country RCMP detachment
on Grant Crescent and made off with a small amount of marijuana which was
being held as evidence in charges under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.

It is believed the intruder gained entry to the office through an unlocked
ground-level window near the main entrance. The marijuana was taken from a
secure exhibit storage area inside the office. Police say the theft of
marijuana did not exceed 100 grams, or just over three ounces.

At this time, it is not known if the theft will affect any criminal
proceedings currently underway. This break-in is still under investigation
and police are not releasing further details of this crime at this time.

Although police will not discuss security issues, they do say appropriate
measures have not been taken to ensure there are no further breeches of
security. The Lake Country detachment plan to be relocating into the
building now vacated by Interior Savings Credit Union next month.
