A WORLD WITHOUT POT

I do not find it hard at all to believe that only a minority of Canadians
have tried pot ("Reefer madness; the sequel," Cover, Aug. 6). I never have,
neither has my wife nor both my boys in their 20s (yes, I am sure). In
addition, neither have any members of my sons' rock band (they don't smoke
tobacco products either). None of our friends smoke pot, although a few may
have once or twice. In my business as a ski instructor and tour guide for
bus tours originating in Ontario, I have met only a few pot smokers. When I
was a school administrator (now retired), a position that one would assume
would bring many drug contacts, I found a very small percentage of students
(less than 10 per cent) were involved in drugs of any sort. I think that
Dawn Taylor ("The pot debate," The Mail, Aug. 20) should take a look around
beyond her own circle and she would discover that most of us don't share
her lifestyle.
