DR. COP?

REGARDING YOUR response to Dave Burkhart's Aug. 3 letter. You seem to
have something in common with the Canadian police in that you both
know more about medicine than the Canadian Medical Association. And
to think I was wasting time seeing an MD when all I had to do was ask
the local cop on the street about my medical problems.

In your editorial remarks about medicinal use of cannabis you wrote:
"Doctors should not prescribe something they do not know enough
about." Do you think they know more about Prozac or Ritalin, which
have only existed for a short time, than they do about cannabis that
has been used for thousands of years? Do you really think you have
the knowledge to tell doctors what they should or should not do?

Santa Cruz, California

(No, it is up to them to prescribe remedies.)
