Adams DRUG POLICY THE ALP Federal drug policy states that "Labor will work with State governments that wish to conduct a trial" of heroin injecting rooms "within a clear legal framework and in compliance with Australia's international treaty obligations". The UN International Narcotics Control Board has pointed out that Australian States that establish "heroin injecting rooms" are supporting policies "that run counter to the treaty obligation limiting the use of drugs to medical and scientific purposes only". In other words, the ALP Federal policy supports trials of injecting rooms that don't breach the treaty obligations, but all such trials breach these obligations. Will the State Government comply with Federal policy and rule against an injecting room trial for Perth? C. S. ADAMS, Girrawheen. - --- MAP posted-by: Larry Stevens
