(AP) -- The Senate Judiciary Committee has killed a bill that would have allowed the medical use of marijuana. The committee voted 3-1 Wednesday against the measure sponsored by Sen. Keith Goodenough, D-Casper. Sen. John Hanes, R-Cheyenne, said more research needs to be done on the medical benefits of marijuana. In addition, he was concerned about federal prohibitions on any use of the drug and the federal government's stance that marijuana has no medical benefits that are not available from other legal drugs. Goodenough, serving in his 11th year in the Legislature, said this is probably the fifth time he has proposed allowing medical use of marijuana, failing each time. - --- MAP posted-by: Andrew
