FLOCKHART COPING WITH BROTHER'S DRUG ADDICTION

Calista Flockhart is said to be coping with another drug crisis. The
actress, who helped her Ally McBeal co-star Robert Downey Jr. tackle
addiction, has been told that her older brother was busted for heroin
possession.

Gary Flockhart, 40, appeared for arraignment in Superior Court in Bristol,
Conn., earlier this week on charges of heroin possession and trespassing
stemming from a July 12 arrest.

Bristol Police Lt. Dan Britt said arresting officers reported that
Flockhart, who was released on $5,000 bond, had stated he was Calista's
brother. A spokeswoman for Calista said she had no comment on the arrest.

Assistant state's attorney, Steve Preleski said that Gary Flockhart, acting
as his own attorney, asked that the charges be dismissed in exchange for
his successful completion of an "accelerated rehabilitation" program.

Preleski said the program requires "no admission of guilt" but that
Flockhart would be eligible only if he had no prior arrests.

Sources say he was arrested near a housing project during a police sting
operation.

It's unclear whether Calista is helping her brother but People magazine
reported that he once helped her when she was a struggling actress by
sending her a case of canned ravioli that she rationed to herself at two a day.

Gary Flockhart could not be reached for comment.
