MARIJUANA BENEFITS

Editor:

It was with great sadness I read Kamloops RCMP Sgt. Randy Brown has
proclaimed when the compassion club opens in Kamloops, police will
shut it down. Obviously, he has nothing better to do than to squander
taxpayers' money persecuting the sick, the dying and those living in
constant pain. The federal government has already acknowledged a
need for this product, but has yet to figure out how to get it and
distribute it.

Sure, the feds have started to grow marijuana in the underground
mines in Flin Flon Manitoba, but they are moving at the speed of a
turtle. The marijuana they are producing is of a THC content of .5
per cent, about equal to what hemp would be. This would be like
taking a glass of water for a broken arm; it just won't work.

The government then intends to do another 18 month study on the
subject. Marijuana has been studied for more than 40 years. If
Ottawa does not have enough data on this subject by now, it never
will. There are people that need this product today, not 1 1/2 or
two years from now.

The BC Marijuana Party, along with it's affiliates, have solutions in
place now to distribute this product to those in need. We don't need
the government to waste more money on a study to tell us marijuana
works, we already know it.

We also don't need Sgt. Randy Brown waiting in the lurch to take this
harmless medicine away from those who need it now for the betterment
of their lives. Sgt. Randy Brown seems to be an expert on organized
crime, so maybe he should be concentrating his efforts on this
instead of hindering the sick and the needy because he sure isn't an
expert when it comes to marijuana.

It is now time his narrow-minded way of thinking went the way of the
dinosaurs. Heaven forbid someone near and dear to him should get
sick because then he may have to arrest them or maybe he would then
open his eyes.
