PROGRAM DECREASES DRUG USE

Editor:

I disagree with Mr. Sharpe's letter in Sunday's paper.

Before our class took DARE I heard a lot of people talking about how
they were going to do drugs when they were older. After we went
through DARE none of the people in our class wanted to get near drugs.

DARE is an effective program that teaches kids why not to take drugs.
People who teach DARE to kids make it fun to learn why you shouldn't
do drugs.

I don't know why you want to shut the program down. If you think it is
dumb, you are totally wrong. I bet you haven't even been through the
DARE program. If you did, I bet you would change your mind.

If you leave DARE the way it is the population of the people who do
drugs will decrease.
