Lawrence ALMOST $2 MILLION WORTH OF POT BURIED BENEATH LIMES SEIZED AT CHECKPOINT U.S. Border Patrol agents at the Falfurrias checkpoint on U.S. Highway 281 confiscated more than 2,400 pounds of marijuana valued at more than $1.9 million from a truck driver hauling limes on Sunday. The driver, a 27-year old Edinburg resident, and the truck's contents were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration, said Border Patrol supervisory Agent Gerald Murray. The truck was pulled over because the driver was acting nervous, Murray said. The driver gave the agents consent to search, Murray said. A drug-sniffing dog alerted agents to the drugs, which were buried beneath crates of limes, Murray said. Agents recovered 51 bundles of marijuana which weighed a total of 2,490 pounds, he said. Earlier today, agents also confiscated 12 pounds of cocaine. The details of the incident were not available pending arrival of the DEA. - --- MAP posted-by: Terry Liittschwager
