STUDENTS: DRUG USE A FACT OF LIFE, DUDE

Drug use is just a fact of life, say high school teens.

A survey of Ontario high schoolers released yesterday indicates a
resurgence of drug use from 1993-1999.

Use of tobacco, cannabis, glue, solvents, hallucinogens, cocaine and
Ecstasy skyrocketed in that period.

Drug use recently made headlines when an inquest looked into the
Ecstasy-related death of Ryerson student Allen Ho.

A group of Jarvis Collegiate Institute students interviewed yesterday
say drugs are commonplace.

"For sure, there's definitely lots of teenagers doing drugs nowadays.
It's so easy to get them and even if you don't know the person
dealing, there's always some other friends who do know how to get it,"
said Pamela, 18, a regular pot smoker.
