HARRELSON'S 'PERSONAL FREEDOM' HAS GONE TO POT

Woody Harrelson doesn't hide his illegal habit, in fact, he has been
outspoken on the virtues of marijuana.

His latest move is to narrate "Grass," a documentary opening today in San
Francisco that traces the evolution of antimarijuana laws and shows how,
despite huge expenditures, marijuana use has increased.

"I do smoke, but I don't go through all this trouble just because I want to
make my drug of choice legal," Harrelson said. "It's about personal
freedom. We should have the right in this country to do what we want, if we
don't hurt anybody,"

Harrelson, who recently starred in "Play It to the Bone" with Antonio
Banderas, said he has no movies in sight, but he's looking forward to
performing on stage in the fall in "The Late Henry Moss," written and
directed by Sam Shepard. Sean Penn and Nick Nolte are also cast in the San
Francisco production,

"I'm not doing this for the money," he said. "I'm a huge fan of Sam Shepard."
