POLICE CANVASS STATE IN 8-HOUR ROAD STING

State police made 57 drunk-driving arrests and 247 felony and misdemeanor
arrests Friday during "Operation Catch All."

The eight-hour blitz enlisted law enforcement officers statewide who set up
roadblocks from 4 p.m. to midnight to catch drivers who were speeding or
driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said. Altogether,
police made 1,289 criminal and traffic-related arrests and issued more than
1,200 warnings.

A traffic stop in Poinsett County led to the arrest of a Chicago man wanted
on attempted murder charges, police said. Another man was arrested on a
charge of transporting about a pound of cocaine and two pounds of marijuana
on Interstate 40 in St. Francis County.

Also, police arrested two men at a sobriety checkpoint in Washington County
on charges of transporting a methamphetamine lab, police said.

State police plan additional highway saturations throughout the summer.
