The Record is currently running a 5-by-5-inch display advertisement that can only be characterized as Big Brother at its worst. I'm referring to the $500 enticement for citizens to turn informant on their unsuspecting marijuana growing neighbors. Make no mistake. This could not be a drug issue. It is highly unlikely that anyone growing in his or her home could be considered a supplier at any level, and medicinal marijuana usage has been gaining support by citizens in western states. This is a major assault on privacy and a test of the search and seizure protections of the Constitution's Fourth Amendment. Even more disturbing is the enlistment of the New Jersey State Police by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. By whose order is this taking place, and what is the real motivation behind compromising our state's sovereignty? Tony Finno, New Milford, Oct. 6 - --- MAP posted-by: Andrew
