MAGIC MUSHROOMS 'SHOULD BE LEGAL'

Psychedelic mushrooms don't pose a risk to public health and should be
made legal, said a Dutch government-commissioned report released
yesterday.

Magic mushrooms were banned in the Netherlands last year when the
Health Ministry said it feared they might be dangerous and wanted to
study their effects.

Mushrooms that can cause hallucinations were openly sold for years in
stores specialising in natural stimulants.

"There is no legal need to ban mushrooms," said the report released by
the Health Inspection Service.
